Azulão
Azulão is a song by Jayme Ovalle (1894-1955) and text by Manuel Bandeira (1886−1968). This modinha is a love song sung by a broken-hearted boy who lives in the arid part of Brazil called sertão. With nice melodic lines, melodramatic texts about love and longing, and simple accompaniment, modinha was Brazil’s main musical style in all classes in the 19th century.
